Marshal Interest Form

Thank you for your interest in volunteering as a marshal for the 2026 NYC Dyke March! We appreciate your willingness to devote time and energy to help make the march safe. This year's march will be on Saturday, June 27th! We welcome all dykes to marshal with us, including those who may require accessibility accommodations. Marshals play a vital role in keeping marchers safe from traffic, police, homophobes, transphobes, and counterprotests. As an unpermitted protest march, there is always a possibility of arrest, though no marshal has ever been arrested at Dyke March. This form will ask about your comfort level, accessibility needs, and any other concerns so we can make every effort to assign you a role that works for you. Please note: All marshals are required to wear masks during the march. Training is mandatory for all marshals, including returning marshals. If you have any questions or concerns about the sign-up process or your responsibilities as a marshal, please don't hesitate to contact us at nycdykemarch@gmail.com or on Instagram at @nycdykemarch. We look forward to having you :) In solidarity, The 2026 NYC Dyke March Planning Committee

Which training will you attend? *
All marshals, including returning marshals, must attend one training session. Trainings usually run for 60-90 minutes with a 30-minute accessibility training afterwards.  If you've marshaled at Dyke March before, we recommend attending a returning marshal session. If none of those dates work, feel free to attend a general session instead. Head marshals must attend a returning/head marshal session — if none work, please email us. In-Person Training: Held at The People’s Forum, located at 320 W 37th St. This venue is accessible, and masks are mandatory for all attendees. Virtual Training: To get the Zoom link, fill out the form for your respective session at bit.ly/zoomtrainingdates (also accessible in our IG bio).

Do you have any concerns about the potential risk of arrest while marshaling? *
There are a variety of roles with different levels of risk exposure. Please select the option that best represents your comfort level. You will learn more about the different marshal roles and their associated risk levels during the training. We will make every effort to accommodate your preferences and concerns when assigning roles.
I am comfortable with roles that may involve a higher risk of arrest
I prefer roles with a lower risk of arrest
I am open to roles with various risk levels
Do you have any specific concerns about the potential risk of arrest that you would like us to consider when assigning your marshal role?
We will make every effort to accommodate your needs and preferences. Note: If you share any concerns related to arrest risk, we will communicate them to your head marshal.
Would you like to sign up for a wheelchair to use at any point during the march? *
Yes
No
Do you have any additional access needs?
We will make every effort to accommodate them in your marshal role. Note: If you share your access needs, we will communicate them with your head marshal.
Are you interested in being an Accessibility Marshal? *
This would involve assisting marchers who use wheelchairs or need other accessibility accommodations to fully participate in the march or helping to coordinate these efforts. This does not guarantee that you will be an accessibility marshal, just that you are open to it. Accessibility marshaling is open to people of all ability levels, including those who use wheelchairs- we will do our best to accommodate you. Please note: Accessibility trainings will occur for 30 minutes after each marshal training. Accessibility marshals must be present for both the general marshal training and the thirty minute accessibility training afterwards.
Yes, I will stay for 30 minutes after my chosen training to be trained in accessibility
No, I'm not interested in being an accessibility marshal
Are you interested in being a part of Troll Patrol? *
Troll Patrol is a roving group of marshals who work to ensure the safety and well-being of all marchers, with a special focus on protecting BIPOC, immigrant, and trans folx. Given our theme this year and the current social and political climate, this role is particularly important in the event of escalations or counter-protests. Troll Patrol marshals may need to engage in charged conversations and directly address individuals who are behaving inappropriately or causing distress to marchers. Indicating your interest does not guarantee that you will be a Troll Patrol, just that you are open to it! An additional online de-escalation training will be required. Troll Patrol must attend both the general marshal training and the de-escalation training.
Yes
No
If you would like to be a part of Troll Patrol, please sign up for one of the following online de-escalation training sessions.
Please Note: Even if you are not interested in joining Troll Patrol, you are still welcome to sign up. These techniques are valuable for all marshals to have in their toolkit, especially considering the potential for heightened tensions this year. We strongly encourage all marshals to be prepared to handle challenging situations, as they may arise at any point. If you attend the training but did not indicate interest in becoming Troll Patrol you will not be assigned that role.
