Ever felt overwhelmed juggling multiple calendars? We’ve all been there. That’s where syncing events in your Baserow table with external calendars comes in.
Baserow offers powerful features for managing data, and the Calendar View is particularly useful for scheduling tasks and events. You can sync the Calendar View with an external calendar to have all your Baserow events available in your existing calendar.
Here’s why you might want to do this:
This allows you to see Baserow events alongside your regular Google Calendar events, enhancing productivity and ensuring you don’t miss important deadlines or meetings.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to connecting a Baserow Calendar View to Google Calendar:
First, open the Baserow table where you want to keep track of events. At the top of the screen, you’ll see a view bar. Click the view and choose “Calendar.”
Now, pick the field in your table that shows the dates of the events. This could be a “due date”, “start/end date” field, or other date field.
This is so Google Calendar can see all events and keep everything in sync.
You can also customize your calendar view. This means you can change labels, or color-code them to make them easier to see. Just make sure the view shows the events you want to sync.
So, let’s get this Baserow calendar synced with Google Calendar.
First, Click on the Share view button. A little window will pop up, and then click on Sync to an external calendar. This will create a special link that Google Calendar can use to see all Baserow events.
Once you’ve created the link, click on the copy icon. Now you have that special link saved, and we’re almost there.
Open Google Calendar in your web browser and sign in with your Google account if you haven’t already.
Let’s create a dedicated space for Baserow events in Google Calendar. On the left-hand side, look for the section called “Other calendars.” Click the “+” icon next to it to add a new calendar.
From the options that appear, choose “From URL.” This allows you to import events from an external source like Baserow.
Remember that iCal URL you copied from Baserow? Paste it into the “URL of calendar” field in Google Calendar. This unique link acts as a bridge between your calendars, ensuring seamless synchronization.
Click Add Calendar, and just like that, your Baserow events will start showing up in your Google Calendar. Now, whenever you update your schedule in Baserow, it’ll reflect in Google Calendar, keeping you organized and in control.
Once you’ve imported your events from Baserow, you’ll want to verify that everything has synced correctly. Head back to Google Calendar and take a look. You should see the Baserow events pop up right there. Keep in mind that Google Calendar might take a few minutes to catch up with any changes you make in Baserow.
You can rename the calendar, change color, adjust permission or notification settings to fit your preferences. This will help you easily identify and manage the events you imported from Baserow.
You can sync multiple calendar views from different Baserow databases or tables to your Google Calendar. Simply repeat the process for each Baserow calendar you want to add.
Note that the sync between Baserow and Google Calendar is one-way—changes made in Baserow will be reflected in Google Calendar, but edits cannot be made directly from Google Calendar to Baserow.
Google Calendar updates the iCal link at intervals, which may vary. It’s worth reviewing your Google Calendar settings if the sync doesn’t appear immediately.
If you want to stop the sync or remove the calendar, go to Google Calendar.
On the left sidebar, under “Other Calendars,” hover over the Baserow-synced calendar, click the three dots, and select Settings. Scroll down and click Unsubscribe to remove it from your Google Calendar.
With this setup, you can view and manage your Baserow Calendar events directly in Google Calendar, ensuring you never miss a key event or deadline. This integration is particularly useful for project management, content calendars, event planning, and more.
For two-way sync or more advanced integrations, consider setting up automation using tools like Zapier or Make to set up workflows (such as sending reminders or notifications) so that you can get alerts based on your calendar events directly via email or other tools like Slack, Mattermost, Rocket Chat, Zulip, and more.
