Baserow is API first which means it is made to connect with other software.
We’re happy to announce the first alpha version. It is a working product, but it misses lots of features. Everyone can test it out via our website.
This month we want to add as much additional features as possible like forgot and change password, additional field types, editing of a row in a popup, converting field types (which now fails often) and lots of other small things.
Because things like API docs, developers docs, plugin boilerplate and functional docs are missing, we have postponed the open source release until July. This month will be in light of working towards that goal.
We have spoken with some early users and one feature jumped out. We are talking about the possibility to link a row to another table row. We have given this priority and by the end of August there will be a field type that offers this functionality.
Wouldn't it be nice to actually sort your customers by their name? We also noticed this is a must have in addition to filtering. Consider them done by the end of September! A URL and email field have also been planned for this month.
Often you already have a spreadsheet or CSV file with existing data. Manually typing them over in Baserow would be a time consuming job. This month we will focus on importing those files and exposing your data via a REST API endpoint.
What if you ever want to store photos of your products or important documents related to a project? This could be solved by adding an image and a file field. We will make sure you can use those before the end of the month.
Normally we release at least one large feature each month, but December is going to be a little bit different. There are lots of small features on the backlog that we want to work on. Think of the select option field, filtering the REST API via a GET parameter, hiding of fields, bug fixes and more.
Technically it is already possible to have multiple users in a group, but if you are both working on the same thing, you can not see what others are doing. This could result in inconsistent data. Before the end of January you will be able to invite other user and collaborate in real time with them.
Do you want to import Excel, XML, JSON or Sheets into Baserow without converting to CSV first? Does it sound good if you are could export your data, have role based permissions and the ability to place comments on row level? Would you like to the visualize your data using a gallery, form, survey, kanban of calendar view? Then the premium version might be something for you. It includes an admin panel, signup rules, LDAP login and more.
Because we had less time available in this month we have focussed on lots of smaller issues. Among them are the single select field and inserting rows above and below a row.
