Baserow 1.32: Dashboards, enhanced Airtable import, SSO for Application Builder, and more

Introducing Baserow 1.32, one of our biggest updates! We’re finally publishing a feature we’ve been working on for a while—Dashboards. These will help you understand your data quickly by turning it into easy-to-read insights and visuals.

Plus, our Airtable importer is out of beta, making importing from Airtable much smoother—now you can bring over your entire workspace with all your grid views intact.

For users on the Advanced or Enterprise plan, we’ve added secure sign-in (SSO) to the Application Builder to make access management simpler.

There’s a lot more to discover in this update. Here’s what’s new:

Dashboards

Introducing Baserow Dashboards, a new way to understand your Baserow data.

Looking at hundreds of rows of data can be overwhelming. Dashboards help you easily spot trends, monitor progress, and make faster decisions.

Our widgets include:

  • Summary: Get quick insights through key metrics like totals, averages, and counts. Perfect for tracking important numbers at a glance.
  • Bar chart: Visualize data as vertical bars with up to three series per chart (only the first 10 results are displayed). This makes it simple to compare values and monitor progress over time.

Each widget can be customized with unique titles, descriptions, data sources, grouping options, and sorting preferences. The widgets update automatically whenever the underlying Baserow tables change.

A single dashboard can combine multiple widgets, bringing data from various databases or tables together for enhanced analysis.

To create a dashboard:

  • Click + Create new.
  • Select Dashboard from the dropdown option.

We’re developing more widgets and features for future releases. Your feedback during this beta phase helps us build exactly what you need.

Enhanced Airtable import

Switch from Airtable to Baserow seamlessly with our improved import feature, now out of beta. We’ve made the transition process smooth and comprehensive, ensuring your data structure and views stay exactly as you designed them.

The importer keeps your complete setup intact—including the Grid view with field arrangements, sorting preferences, grouping settings, filters, and row coloring. We’re soon going to add support for Gallery, Kanban, Calendar, and Form views, allowing you to pick up right where you left off in Airtable.

You have the option to skip file imports, and you’ll get a detailed report of any item that wasn’t imported, making it easy to track what might be missing.

To import your Airtable base, go to your Workspace:

  1. Click the + Create new button in the workspace you want to add the database to
  2. Select Database from the dropdown option
  3. Switch to the Import from Airtable tab

Export media from Grid View

The export media from Grid View feature lets you download files and images stored in your Baserow tables. This is especially helpful when you need to back up files or work with them outside of Baserow.

When you export files from specific fields in your Grid view, they download as a ZIP archive that preserves the original filenames. You can also choose to group files by row ID within the archive.

To export files:

  1. Click the three dots (•••) next to the Grid view you want to export to open view settings.
  2. Select Export files.

This feature is available with the Premium plan or higher.

Merge or insert rows during additional import

When importing data into an existing table, you can now choose how to handle duplicate records. The “Import data into an existing table” feature offers two options:

  • Create new records: Import all rows as new records, regardless of potential duplicates
  • Update existing records: Update existing records with imported data when matches are found

To import a file into an existing table:

  1. Click on the ellipsis (•••) beside a view to open your view settings.
  2. Select Import file.
  3. Select the file type you would like to import and click Import.
  4. Check the new option - Update rows if they already exist.

Row enters view webhook event type

We’re introducing a new webhook event type that triggers when a row enters a view. This means the webhook will fire in two scenarios:

  • When a new row is created and matches the view’s filter conditions
  • When an existing row is updated and newly matches the view’s filter (but didn’t match before)

To set up a new webhook:

  1. Click on the ••• beside the required view or table
  2. Select Webhooks
  3. Click ‘Create webhook +’ and Enter a name to identify the webhook by

This feature is available in the Advanced or Enterprise plan.

Deactivation notifications

We’ve introduced new important notification features to help you stay informed about system changes:

  • Webhook deactivation notifications: You’ll receive alerts when a webhook becomes inactive after failing 4 times.
  • Webhook payload size notifications: Notifications are sent when a webhook cannot send all the data due to the payload being too large. For example, in the Row enters view webhook event type, if 10,000 rows enter the view, the first 1,000 rows are sent, and a notification is issued stating that not all data could be delivered.
  • Periodic data sync deactivation notifications: Get notified when your scheduled data synchronizations stop working. Whether it’s due to authentication issues, changed endpoints, or other technical problems, you’ll know immediately when your data sync needs attention.

You can view notifications in the Notifications sidebar section and adjust notification frequency in the workspace settings.

Sort single-select values by option order

You can now sort single-select field values according to their option order instead of alphabetically. In the sort settings, simply choose either first to last or last to first to follow the order you set for your options.

SSO for Application Builder

Application Builder SSO supports these providers and configurations:

  • OpenID Connect (OIDC)
  • SAML 2.0
