The 1.6 release of Baserow includes the long anticipated formula and multiple select field types. They have been highly requested and we’re excited to share them with you. The formula field allows you to calculate a value based on the values of other fields in the same row. The multiple select field type is similar to the single select field, but it allows you to select multiple options. On top of that, we have added a lot of bug fixes and improvements. View the full change list at the bottom of this post for a complete overview. We also now have a community forum at https://community.baserow.io/ for discussions and feedback.
The new formula field type gives you the power to do dynamic calculations in your tables just like in other spreadsheet software. Initially we are launching with 30 core functions letting you do numerical, conditional, text and date based calculations, but more will be coming soon. Formula fields work just like the other field types so you can filter, sort and search them like normal. More information can be found in the formula field documentation.
The multiple select field allows you to select from a list of predefined options. It works similar to the single select field, the key difference is that you can select as many of the options as you want instead of just one. You can easily convert existing text fields values that are separated by a comma to this new field type.
Baserow has a developer community on GitLab, but we also wanted to offer a place for non-developers. If you would like to chat about self hosting, templates or just want to stay up to date with our latest announcements, then we would like to invite you to our community at https://community.baserow.io/. Support questions or feature requests are also welcome! If have you created a plugin or integration, we would love it if you share it here.
All the changes of version 1.6 listed.
Today we are releasing Baserow 1.14 with a new security feature — audit log, and big updates to Baserow RBAC that allow assigning roles to users or teams on individual databases and tables for even more granular permission control.
